For your accountant
Underneath, Tiny Tally keeps a proper double-entry ledger. Every transaction, invoice, bill and payment posts balanced debits and credits, so the reports an accountant expects are all there.
Reports they'll want
- Journal & Trial Balance: every posting as a general journal, or the trial balance on a date.
- Profit & Loss on a cash or accrual basis, and the Balance Sheet.
- Your tax return, with the transactions behind each figure.
Each one can be printed, saved as PDF or exported to CSV. They can also just open your .tally file in Tiny Tally themselves.
Journal entries
For adjustments that aren't an ordinary transaction, such as depreciation, accruals or corrections, use Journal entries in the sidebar. New journal takes a date, a description and any number of lines, each with an account, a debit or credit and a note. It can't be saved until it balances.
Reverse it on a date creates the opposite entry then, for accruals that undo themselves next period.
The audit trail
Every change is logged with when and on which computer, and can be looked back on in Activity. See History. The lock date keeps finished periods from being changed.
